re: First Annual Fëanáró Nosseö Winter Olympics!

Greetings of the season to you fellow Firstborn, Naugrim, Periannath or Edain! The Kin of Feanor is proud to present you with the First Annual Fëanáró Nosseö Winter Olympics!

Summary:

27th December 2013: Opening Speech, Archery, Dueling, Oratory - 21:00 CET/GMT+1 - 23:00 CET/GMT+1

28th December 2013: Quizz, Riding, Race, Outfit showoff - 21:00 CET/GMT+1 - 23:00 CET/GMT+1

29th December 2013: Yuletide Challenge, Riddle-run, Proclaiming the Winner - 21:00 CET/GMT+1 - 23:00

During this, most wonderful time of the year, all of the Free Peoples that make up the ranks of Fëanáró Nosseö gather in Winterhome, Frostbluff, to rejoice and celebrate the passing year and welcome the new one! The festival lasts for 3 days, and encompasses a wide variety of competitions, with the scores tallying over to give us the Grand Victor that will be crowned with Mistletoe on the third day, and shortly smothered with kisses by everyone present (dwarves included!). Only members of the kinship may participate, but feel free to invite any of your friends to watch, cheer and bet when the judges are looking the other way! There is a limited amount of slots open for all of the disciplines, so it might be wise to signup early and make sure you are participating in each of the tournaments that you wish to go for!

Disciplines:

If an event is marked as (RP) it means it is to be roleplayed on, so we advise members who prefer OOC behavior to abstain from these events, although all are welcome to be tutored in the rules and gimmicks of the genre by one of our volunteers!

Each event also has a date next to it, indicating on which day it is to be held (Events can be moved around at the discretion of the organisers, but this is not to be expected).

1) Archery (RP) - A competition for those steady of hand and clear an eye. ((The game is played based on a /roll function in the game, so it is pure luck - but bonuses are awarded for good roleplaying, and penalties for stalling too much or behaving OOCly))

2) Dueling (RP) - A tournament in melee combat, ranged combatants not allowed alas. ((Similarly to the archery tournament, the game is based on the /roll function, and revolves around attacking, parrying, taking hits and so forth depending on your luck, bonuses and penalties apply as above))

3) Oratory (RP) - A tournament in speechcraft, for those gifted with a sharp mind and silven tongue. ((This one is a pure RP competition, each competitor has 5 minutes to make a speech of his choice, this can be a song, limerick, joke, battlecry, story, or anything else you think will impress the judges, participatins are given scores by the judges from 1 to 10, and the one with the highest score wins))

4) Riddle-run - A tournament that has proven to be extremely fun and potentially unstable, it functions in such a way that the competitors are to follow clues given by the judges in the form of riddles. The answer to the riddle is a person, object or location where another judge/volunteer will give them the next riddle and so forth. The one who reaches the final answer to the final riddle is proclaimed victor!

5) Quizz - A trivia competition where the contestants are asked a series of lore or game-related questions. This is for the brainy and nerdy out there. Questions can vary from: "Name all of the Sons of Feanor" to "How many people are needed for a Helegrod raid". The winner is the person who first answers 10 questions correctly.

6) Riding - Perhaps the most simple competition of all, it consists of a race on horseback (with %62 mounts, no other bonuses) from point A to point B (long distances, crossing difficult terrain). Winner is first who crosses the finish line

7) Race - Similarly to the riding challenge, the competitors race, but this time on foot and in a relatively short circuit with laps.

8) Outfit showoff - A competition similar to the Oratory one, but this one relies completely on your fashion sense, you can enter the competition with up to 3 of your outfits, each one will be given a mark by the judges from 1 to 10 (the outfits are considered separate entities, so you can come in last and first with the same character).

9) Yuletide challenge - A secret surprise tournament in he spirits of the season :)

Rewards:

Besides the honors and prestige one might get, as well as the indisputable fun of participating and socializing with your fellow kinnies, I have secured a 50g reward pool from my own pocket, and am inviting all of our members to chip in and donate what they can so that the winners of the tournament can truly be spoiled :D All participants, no matter their final standing will receive atleast a token gift...after all it is the most wonderful time of the year!
